Addict not!

Heavy dependence on anything outside you is addiction. You can be addicted to drugs and alcohol, to sex and tobacco. And you can also be addicted to blaming people or judging people, to illness, to debt, to being a victim, to being rejected.

By addicting to ill-habits, you lose your valuable power of self-control, self-reliance, majesty, dignity, conduct, character etc. Externally you may lose friendships, relationships, acquaintances, honesty, business, reputations, family, job, benefits, positions, valuables or materials. Addictions may wash away many of these or any one of these. You grow imbalance within you.

After the realizations, you will understand worth of the loss and make frantic efforts to regain. But by that time, most of the damages would have happened. Irreparable losses would have occurred. The losses may be irretrievable. Reconstructing yourself would swallow your youth, energy and joy. Addiction to ill-habits in many ways fractures the normal life.

Being addicted is giving up your power to a substance or a habit. The resultant is loss of strength either physically or mentally.

You can always get your power back. Yes! This is the moment you should get your power back! You have to shed the substance or the habit under the clutch of which your self esteem has been hanging.

You choose to develop the positive habit of knowing that life is here for you. You would be willing to forgive yourself.

You have an eternal spirit that has always be with you. And it is here with you now! You relax and let go and you remember to breathe as you redeem yourself from addictions and practice positive new ones. As a first step- forgive yourself! OK?
